NBWC Senior Scholarship
This scholarship is available to all high school seniors or seniors from Craven Early College. It is awarded based on the applicant's character, scholastic records, evidence of intellectual promise, demonstration of ambition, leadership ability, and financial need.
The applicant must be a resident of Craven County and in the upper fourth of the class. The student's school must be an accredited North Carolina School.
The scholarship is to be used at an accredited community college, four-year college, or university. The deadline for applying for this scholarship is April 1st.
New Bern Woman’s Club College Scholarship
Students must be a resident of Craven County and been a student for at least one semester. This scholarship rewards academic excellence as student seeks a college degree. There must be evidence of student’s desire to complete a degree. See Craven Community College Financial Aid Dept for application.
New Bern Woman’s Club Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was created in 2006 to encourage students who had a desire to return to school to improve their life through education. The student must be a resident of Craven County, currently hold at least a 3.0 GPA and be working full or part time. There must be evidence of the student’s desire to complete a degree. New Bern Woman's Club 2026 Scholarship Recipients
The New Bern Woman’s Club (NBWC) is proud to support the educational goals and future success of students in our community through our annual scholarship program.
We awarded two High School Senior Scholarships of $2,800 each to Kristen Drone and Keziah Ronzheimer. We also awarded a $2,800 scholarship through the Craven Community College Scholarship Foundation to Plae Neh, along with two $2,800 NBWC Memorial Scholarships to Krystal Lavin and Haley Griffin.
Kristen Drone, a senior at Havelock High School, ranks third in a class of 246 students and has earned a weighted GPA of 4.56. She has successfully balanced rigorous academics, leadership responsibilities, and community service throughout her high school career. As the Marching Band Saxophone Leader, Kristen has demonstrated outstanding leadership by mentoring fellow students and modeling excellence in both performance and preparation. She plans to attend North Carolina State University, where she will major in Zoology before pursuing a degree in Veterinary Medicine.
Keziah Ronzheimer, a senior at The Epiphany School of Global Studies, has achieved a weighted GPA of 4.75 while serving as Vice President of the Student Body and a Student Ambassador. In addition to excelling academically, she has been actively involved in theater, athletics, and community service. Her dedication to serving others includes volunteering as photographer for the Holly & Ivy Homes Tour and DJ for the Mom-Son Dance. Keziah plans to attend Campbell University and pursue studies in Communication or Education.
Plae Neh, recipient of the NBWC College Scholarship through the Craven Community College Scholarship Foundation, is a 19-year-old student who balances full-time studies with part-time employment while living at home to save money. She is currently completing prerequisite courses for admission into a radiography program and ultimately plans to pursue a career in radiation therapy. Plae is committed to becoming a compassionate and dependable healthcare professional who will make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Krystal Lavin, recipient of an NBWC Memorial Scholarship, is a 38-year-old single mother of five children ranging in age from 6 to 21. Inspired by her oldest child's success as a student at UNC Wilmington, Krystal is pursuing her own educational goals at Craven Community College. Upon graduation, she plans to transfer to East Carolina University to earn a bachelor's degree in Forensic Accounting.
Haley Griffin, also an NBWC Memorial Scholarship recipient, returned to school after working in various jobs and realizing her passion for early childhood education. At age 34, she attends school full-time while working full-time at a daycare center. Upon earning her degree in Early Childhood Education, Haley plans to continue serving children and families as a teacher at her current center.
These outstanding scholarship recipients represent perseverance, academic achievement, leadership, and a strong commitment to improving their communities and futures. The New Bern Woman’s Club congratulates Kristen, Keziah, Plae, Krystal, and Haley and wishes them continued success as they pursue their educational and career goals.
