Paula Lindsay Honored by 52 Faces of Community

Congratulations to Past-President, Paula Lindsay on being honored by the Sun Journal and CarolinaEast Health Systems as one of the 52 Faces of Community .

Paula was nominated by members Franky Waters and Liz Maravelas for her tireless dedication to the Meals on Wheels Program, as well as her enthusiasm, energy and commitment to the New Bern Woman’s Club.

They wrote, in part:

In 2009, Paula invited the Director of Meals on Wheels to be a guest speaker at the monthly New Bern Woman’s Club meeting. Paula was so impressed by this organization’s concern for feeding those in need of a daily meal that being the ace recruiter that she is, Paula formed a committee of 20+ club members that agreed to deliver meals to clients in Pembroke on every second and fourth Monday and James City on every second Thursday.

Paula is a force to be reckoned with once she makes up her mind to get a job done. Paula is a very charismatic woman who treats her clients with great respect and humility. Many Meals on Wheels clients use this drop off meal service on a temporary basis when they are in ill health, and many others use this service as a source for getting a daily nutritious meal. Eight out of 10 Meals on Wheels rely on federal funding to serve our senior community. Paula can best be described as a benevolent, ace recruiter for any project she works on and that has been a docent (guide and greeter) for the NBWC annual ‘Holly and Ivy Homes Tour’ at Christmas, greeter at the annual Bike MS fundraiser, and assisting with club projects related to the New Bern Boys & Girls Club.
