Once again one of our fabulous members – Joan Campbell – has been honored with a 52 Faces of the Community Award. We offer her our congratulations and are so pleased that her dedication to the community is recognized and appreciated.
Joan has been a member of the New Bern Woman’s Club since 2012 and has served as Vice President – Membership, Precious Purses Chairman, Holly & Ivy Hostess Chair, Home Life member and dedicated champion for Meals on Wheels, Vial of Life, and many other community projects.
“At our last club meeting, we decided to pack little Easter bags for the Meals on Wheels clients,” Joan said. “When they make the deliveries in April, they’ll have bags with little goodies to brighten their spirits.”
The following quotes are from the nominator, Penny Sullivan : “I wish to nominate Joan Campbell to be one of your 52 Faces. Joan retired from teaching in New Jersey and moved to Fairfield Harbour in 2008. Since that time, she has been influential in many organizations. ”
” She serves on the Board of Craven Concerts and acts as member of the Chamber of Commerce for that organization. She is very active in the nonprofits group within the Chamber. She also wears many other hats for Craven Concerts, including organizing the “Wine and Choose” Party for the Patrons to help the Board choose the next season’s performers. Her heart is now in Clean Sweep, where she has served on the Board for seven years. She toils tirelessly to help rid Craven County of the trash along the roads and has been actively pursuing the Sheriffs of Craven County to have prisoners do more trash removal duties. She serves on the Broad Creek Road Gang, which endeavors to keep Broad Creek Road free of trash. Recently she and her husband Bill organized a special Clean Sweep of Fairfield Harbour. In one day, her volunteers removed over 250 bags of trash and left the Harbour looking loved.”
